Illegal Steroids and their use
Steroids have been around for ages. It has been first used in competitive sports during the 1952 Olympics. The Russian team had used steroids and basically bagged most of the medals. If you think that time they are the real champs, think again! They used illegal steroids to gain massive strength and over power other competitors.
They have admitted in using synthetic testosterone, which is considered as illegal steroids. But at that time, it is still very new. Illegal steroids, which are also known as anabolic steroids, gained popularity after people realized it advantage in the sporting arena but bad and harmful side effects were soon discovered and then it is banned.
Even with the steroids banned, it was really too late in preventing it from being abused by athletes. Many sports were being abused by it. Sports like baseball, bodybuilding, track field and cycling were among the sports that were frequently reported being contaminated by illegal steroids.
Using illegal steroids in sports is considered cheating. That particular person is not naturally strong, fast and fit if it was not of steroids. Therefore we can say that particular athlete is just being chemically enhanced and they won not because they are gifted or talented. Not only that, taking anabolic steroids can cause many harmful side effects and sometimes it is so bad that it can cause fatality or indirect fatality.
A clear example of an indirect fatality is the case of the profession wrestler Benoit where he killed his son and wife before committing suicide. Both the wife and son is the indirect fatality. Anabolic steroids are believed to be the cause of the mishap because anabolic steroids can cause depression and aggression, a condition, which is also known as “roid rage”.
An example of a direct fatality concerning steroids is the death of Rick Rude in 1999. His heart failed and the cause of it is believed to be an over dosage anabolic steroids. With all these side effects and deaths that are connected to the use of anabolic steroids, it not surprising that taking or possessing anabolic steroids is illegal without prescription is many countries.
